'Trust me to keep you safe against the threat of Putin' say head of party whose defining policy this last decade has done more than anything since WW2 to divide our continent and make its collective defence against Putin weaker

Data breach. And a missing apostrophe. Oh, and an utterly brain dead administration. Is there no beginning to their talents?

Did anyone else just get this email, ostensibly from CCHQ, which has CCd rather then BCCd its recipients and thus shared hundreds of personal email addresses?

Education is one of the UK’s most successful global products. It’s ridiculous how much the government enjoys attacking a successful sector that brings huge revenues to the exchequer.

A genuinely bizarre (especially as presumably scripted) line to say about Elphicke, who was a Conservative MP this time last week.

There is serious discomfort in Labour over Elphicke. Sunak speaking about her is probably helpful to Labour in terms of closing ranks. Daft.

Is this a bit where it turns out AI wrote the speech? Because no one employed by the centre of government could surely write something this filled with pointless platitudes?

.Rishi Sunak trying to project himself as tough on defence, Russia + Ukraine.
But when asked about STimes story that Cameron privately told Trump “What are the best conditions in which you as president can make a deal in January?' PM says 'I haven't seen the Sun Times article'..

How Rishi Sunak press conferences work. Reporters put their hands up, but this is what the prime minister has in front of him...

I do think news editors need to make better judgements of newsworthiness than simply 'PM makes speech'.

It's not a major speech, it's another attempted 'reboot' saying basically nothing. The maternity report is the biggest story, the UC rule change is frankly also bigger news

Largely a baffling speech this morning. Not just a grab bag of different subject areas but also of moods – hope for the future versus it’s never been so dangerous, etc.

At times outright self-contradictory. And delivered with all the energy of a school assembly on a rainy day.

You can disagree with that change & some in Labour certainly do, but it's difficult for the PM to mount a 'same old Labour' attack when he is also highlighting that Keir Starmer has changed the party

This line from Rishi Sunak helps Labour: “Keir Starmer has gone from embracing Jeremy Corbyn to Natalie Elphicke”

Keir Starmer’s most important sell to voters is that he has changed his party. And hearing his opponent spell it out like this does the work for him.

'As a prime minister - to say you are likely heading to a hung parliament, you're effectively saying you can't win a general election,' says Sky's Beth Rigby.

FACT CHECK🚨
Beth Rigby said Sunak warned of a 'hung Parliament', so wasn't he admitting he wdn't win the next elxn?
Sunak: 'It wasn't me who said those things'.
But he did. He told Times May 2 results 'suggest we are heading for a hung Parliament with Labour as the largest…

In 2019 & 2021, the govt instructed universities 'to increase the number of international HE students hosted in the UK to 600k per year', to 'increase the value of our education exports'.

When you punish unis for implementing govt policy, maybe gloating isn't the right response?

The problem with Sunak asking British voters 'do you really think the other guy will keep you safer?' is that at this point they'll probably say 'yes'
