Me in the Guardian on Sure Start and ‘news’ it changed poor kids’ lives. The chance w/early years for pre-power Labour to show VISION, kill gap between what they say they want (reducing poverty/expanding opportunity), and what we know, so far, they’ll do…

Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (Darwin College) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the The Spectator libido section.

2 years since this book came out. Sounds trite, but writing it changed me, and I still think the more people know Morgan's story, the better. So here I am, wanging on about it again. Please take a look if you can.

ABOUT A SON will go down as one of the GREAT creative non-fiction books. It and Andrew Hankinson's You Could Do Something Amazing With Your Life (You Are Raoul Moat). Boys of Burn, *of today*, interrogations of crime, masculinity, justice, infamy, giving New Journalism lifeblood

<< We need to think long and hard about what these spaces mean to us. If we want festivals that platform anyone but the biggest names, create spaces that are accessible, and do proactive work to ensure books are for everyone, not just the wealthy - then we need to fund them.

<< ...whose events won't be rescheduled, nor remove the stress from Bob and his team who'd programmed a rich and varied festival before funding was declined. It also serves to remind us how dependent on private funding our festivals now are, with gov't funding no longer reliable.

Utterly delighted for the team at Aye Write that they've been given private funding, and are able to go ahead with these 9 high profile events - hopefully with more to come later in the year, including the vital kids' programme.

HOWEVER, this doesn't help the 160+ authors... >>
