This is an excellent point. The London transport system exists in part because MPs work there. No one in London cares it takes two hours to drive around West Yorkshire at rush hour.

Just to prove the point, the Financial Times has produced a graph showing average commute times across England creeping up to *half an hour*. That wouldn't even get me to the motorway mate.
