Cy-Fair ISD (3rd largest Texas school district) is planning to halve its librarian staff, adding themselves to the growing list of districts doing so to cut costs

The move would leave 42 librarians in a district with 117,000 students and 88 schools.

For those wondering who will pick up the mess on UT Austin’s main quad: Students are cleaning it up. As soon as the police line was pushed back, students immediately got to work cleaning up their campus.

539 UT Austin faculty, representing all ranks and 15 of the University’s colleges and schools, signed an open letter expressing a lack of confidence in President Jay Hartzell. The letter has also been sent to the leaders of the Faculty Council UT Austin Council.

My children go to predominantly Black schools in HISD that had their libraries turned into “team centers” and their dedicated librarians fired. The idea of banning books when kids don’t even have access to full school libraries is absurd.
