Flying over the Alps in January can only mean one thing….Rally Monte Carlo is coming. 2023 has all the signs of a great season, all the teams have rally winners on hand to deliver. I genuinely don’t know who’s the favourite for the rally or the championship.

36 years ago today my childhood hero Henri Toivonen died in a crash along side co-driver Sergio Cresto. In 2016 I was involved in the making of this feature with Harri Toivonen, it was so emotional on so many levels for all involved. youtu.be/cTexciVPFuE

Today Ari Vatanen turned 70, what a career & life he has had. We all have memories of Ari, my personal favourite is of him having a coffee in our house on the Monday morning of the 1994 Network Q RAC Rally before heading to the Hamsterley stage.

Rally Monte Carlo starts next week, the perfect time to look back at last years event with the McKlein Photography calendar & season review book. So many things have changed in the last year around the world, that’s no different for Monte 2021, unfortunately no fans and no Loeb.
