“How do you save all beings?” asked the student.

“You save all beings by including them,” replied the teacher.

Breathe deeply,
let go of whatever you can, and give yourself permission to relax into the breath.
Allow the breath to do all the work.
Allow it to hold you.
Allow it to nourish you.
It’s safe to breathe.
It’s safe to let go.
It’s okay to just be here now.

Notes to self for the new week:

- Breathe deeply (as often as you can)

- Be kind to yourself (life is tough right now)

- Be kind to others (their lives are tough too)

- this too shall pass (everything does)

- Connect with others (we all need love)

- Breathe and begin again

Just noticing “I’m afraid right now,” “I feel sad,” or “I want to jump out of my skin,” is an act of intimacy. It’s not evidence we’re failing at life, but that we’re paying attention to what it’s like to be human. And we can simply respond by meeting ourselves with compassion.

Pay attention to something in your surroundings—the in and out of your breath, the rhythm of your heart, the pain in your knee, a barking dog, the crimson hues of the oxblood. Just rest here and breathe. This moment is meditation. This moment is your life. This moment is enough.
