Well this is embarrassing. A junior colleague asked me to endorse him so that he could post his work on arXiv, but it seems I myself have not published enough as first author to qualify as an endorser, requiring 4 FA papers in 5 years (I have 3). Lots of seniors have none.

Why is the 'epoch of recombination' called that? At that point in the age of the Universe neutral hydrogen had never previously existed. Shouldn't it just be the 'epoch of combination?'

Great moments in planetary exploration. A month out from the New Horizons Arrokoth encounter, Mark Showalter shows off a model of what Arrokoth might look like. I noted that it looked just like a roast chicken that another team member set out for lunch. (Photo by Henry Throop)

Love the modern take that proposers' experience should not be stated. JWST review challenges our awareness of a slew of subtle analysis effects that we first solved/identified to the community. We cite our papers, but failed to show that we understood them.

Breathtaking to watch Fox News' Bret Baier repeatedly fact check deranged and befuddled grandpa trump as he tries to spin his election lies and conspiracy theories.

'You lost the 2020 election.'
WOW.

The 'Rhapsody in Blue' is 100 years old today. It still crackles with energy, exuberance, optimism, but it's in the middle slow section that it reveals the deep emotion that powers all of that. George Gershwin died too young, but not his spirit.

Crockett on Trump: 'This is a guy who could not recognize his own ex-wife, because he thought that his victim was his ex-wife. So, if we are going to compare, then let's go ahead and compare and bring it out.'

Ouch! The incredible Frank Borman is no longer with us. Apollo 8 was not celebrated like Apollo 11, but the first mission to leave the Earth way behind and fly to the Moon required immense courage and fortitude. Ad Astra, Col. Borman.

Love this video - once experienced something similar, which was even more incredible. As a teen I was looking at *Jupiter* in my 6' telescope, and the image suddenly cut in half, with a wake like this. Startled, I looked up to see a jet speeding away from Jupiter!

A wonderful discovery in this NYT piece on learning how to forge valuable connection to our fellow humans. The engineer, Harry Nyquist, who we honor with the eponyn 'Nyquist Sampling,' was an exceptional source of inspiration to his fellow colleagues.

Everyone has their favorite flying machine. The Blackbird (SR-71) and Shuttle are fabulous technological wonders, but I love the X-15 over both.
