Doing ecological studies during a biodiversity crisis is difficult. In 2002 I began studying Marsh Tits in an ancient woodland to see how a functioning population worked. After 10 yrs I realised I was now documenting their slide towards local extinction:

Very good to meet new NFU President Tom Bradshaw Tom Bradshaw at Grange Farm, Mears Ashby, Northants. Much common ground for Nature recovery & farming. We saw work of farmer Andrew Pitts, to combine increased soil carbon, crops & biggest flock of Yellowhammer I’ve seen for ages.
Great to be on the Pitts brothers’ farm today for Natural England and National Farmers' Union liaison, sharing visions, common purpose and ambitions for sustainable #farming , #food and the natural #environment
