Teemu Taira Oh god this is horrific. Did you know at Goldsmiths our management gave us documents for our redundancy process that had left in “University of Kent” by accident??? 🤦🏾‍♀️ Cut & paste job being done to follow your suit. Solidarity ❤️✊🏿🔥

In 1826 Mary Anning discovered a fossil belemnite (squid relative) with dried fossilised ink contained inside. Her friend Elizabeth Philpot revived the ink and used it to illustrate her own ichthyosaur fossil, which was thought to be the same age as the belemnite (200 mya).

If you have ever been interested in carrying out 3D analysis of tooth shape (dental topographic analysis), but can't afford software that costs thousands of pounds, don't worry - we have developed a new, entirely free pipeline that performs just as well as commercial software!

I think it’s quite interesting that the general rule seems to be social justice minded science academics are pro OA, while those in humanities are not.

[The current OA landscape is tricky to navigate atm, but I think it is safe to say the publishers are all doing fine]

These two changed things. In 2017 Miranda Lowe CBE & Subhadra Das gave a talk that broke the dam on natural history taking their colonial histories seriously. Yesterday they revisited it at V&A.
It's always awesome to hang out, & to celebrate Subhadra's great new book!

Chimpanzee Politics was a revelation to teenage me, & hosting de Waal for the London launch of Our Inner Ape, in the early days of LERN remains one of my PhD highlights. It’s not an exaggeration to say his writing defined a lot of my thinking about life & science

The scientific publisher Frontiers released a blog about our preprint. They chose to mislead their readers with fictitious events and wild missinterpretations of our work.

A lot of chat yesterday about the power of scripted over unscripted, with Mr Bates being referenced. But I just don’t believe Mr Bates would have been made, or been as powerful, had it not been for the excellent factual programming on Radio 4/BBC Panorama.
