Gaining 7-8 mph in HS

Note that high-output throwing (pulldowns, etc.) should be a relatively small piece of the puzzle.

Build a frame that can withstand high forces (⬆️ total body strength) & the mechanical efficiency to allow for holding this velocity deep into outings.

At 32 years old, Brock Stewart is out here throwing 95 mph cutters (averaging 94.2 in 2024).

From 24-28 years old, Brock Stewart's four-seam averaged just over 93.

Breakdown:

-IR dominant throw: notice the rear foot turning in to find tension and landing closed on the front foot
-Supinated arm swing due to the size of the implement
-Arm is on time, in plane, & achieves full layback
-Uphill trunk tilt due to target in the 28th row

Why do short arm actions work for some but not others?

I'd argue that the deciding factor is whether or not it helps the arm better sequence and time up with the rest of the delivery.

It can be an effective strategy, but there are other ways to impact timing/sequencing.

So just how good does Chase Burns have the potential to be?

-His average FB velo is higher than Strider, Cole & Prime Justin Verlander
-He's generating 2-3' more vert on the pitch
-His Slider has similar velo, with >3' more sweep
