We condemn the appalling racist violence enacted upon this mother and her child. Sending our love and support to Rianna Cleary, and all those who have lost loved ones at the hands of the state.

So when looking at @cpsuk track record, from Police Spies Out of Lives scandal or the 2015 'not guilty' verdict of Anthony Long, Metropolitan Police marksman who shot and killed Azelle Rodney in 2005.

We are not optimistic about a police murder conviction.

Since 1990, INQUEST has recorded 1871 deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police. Only one police officer has ever been convicted.

PC Monk was jailed for the manslaughter of ex- footballer, Dalian Atkinson in 2021.

A murder charging decision against a police officer is rare so this is a big moment.

We think of Remember Oluwale - in 1969, Leeds city police officers killed David Oluwale. It led to the first successful prosecution of British officers regarding the death of a Black person.

We do not congratulate the Crown Prosecution Service for this slow decision.

The facts of Chris' murder were clear.

After Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) completed their investigation referred to the CPS, they took SIX MONTHS to charge the killer, extending the anguish of the family

This year on 2nd September, we joined the Kaba family and campaign on the streets of Westminster to demand Chris' killer is charged.

We believe this pressure forced Crown Prosecution Service to press a murder charge against the Metropolitan Police officer who killed Chris.

It has been over a year since Chris was killed by the police.

Like United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) families affected by police killings, the Kaba family and campaign has tirelessly pursued answers and accountability.

Met Police shooter has been charged with the murder of

Today he is in court and his identity has been kept secret so far.

This is not the first time a police officer has been charged with murder but not one has ever been convicted.

We ask, where is the justice?

: Since 1990, there have been 1,870 deaths following police contact in England & Wales. In that time, there's only been 1 successful prosecution of a police officer for manslaughter in 2021. None for murder. This murder charge is historic.
