UNC Deputy CMDR, Lt. Gen. Derek Macaulay, and UNC members from Australia & New Zealand participated in today's Anzac dawn service at the War Memorial of Korea. It is a day of remembrance in Australia & New Zealand to commemorate all Australians & New Zealanders who have served.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis & first lady Carmen Georgeta Iohannis visited the JSA today. They received a brief about the history and significance of the JSA as well as the sacrifices of U.S., ROK, & UNC service members to maintain peace & security on the Korean Peninsula.

GEN Paul LaCamera, Commander, UNC/CFC/USFK, hosted this month's Ambassador Roundtable with member states to provide updates on maintaining the Armistice in Korea. Additional topics included the US Ambassador to the UN's visit, testimony to the US Congress and upcoming commemorative events

UNC's Danish contingent held a DANCON ruck march Apr 7. The event has been arranged since 1972 anywhere Danish soldiers serve. 72 soldiers from UNC and Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission, and the LNO to UNC from the Danish Embassy, walked 25 km (15.6 mi) along Pyeongtaek River with a 10 kg (22 lbs) ruck.

Today Commander, UNC/CFC/USFK welcomed Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to Panmunjom. Joint Security Area members introduced our neutral ground for dialogue with the KPA and discussed the rules that underpin peace & security on the Peninsula, capping the visit with a WPS working lunch with leaders in UNC & Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission

French Vice Adm. Christophe Lucas, Deputy Director General, International Relations and Strategy, visited UNC Mar 21. His visit included a meeting with UNC Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. John Weidner, to discuss France’s continued support to UNC and stability on the Korean peninsula.

UNC inspected Transportation Corridor-West last week. UNC and KPA negotiated two transportation corridors in the early 2000s, which remained in use until 2020. UNC continues to maintain their sides of the corridors to keep them viable and compliant with standing agreements.

Happy Independence Day, Greece! More than 10,000 members of the Hellenic Armed Forces fought in Korea as part of the UNC.

The UNC Security Battalion conducted their Best Warrior Competition Feb 26-28.  The competition builds espirit-de-corps while testing Soldiers’ abilities in multiple, basic Soldier skills including marksmanship, land navigation, radio set up, first aid, and physical fitness.

Canadian Navy LCDR Bob Kang honors his great-grandfather, Eui-Song Park, in Seoul. Park was a leader in Korea’s March 1st Independence Movement where thousands of protestors were killed, wounded, or arrested. Park died in prison in 1921. Korea gained independence in 1945.

11 Member States will join the ROK and US during Freedom Shield 2024. The Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission will observe the exercise. The defensive exercise was announced today during a combined press conference.  youtube.com/watch?app=desk…
