The world is forgetting about the people of Sudan.

Half of the country’s population needs lifesaving assistance.

But they need more than humanitarian support.

They need an end to the bloodshed.

They need peace.

The only path out of this horror is a political solution.

The Sudanese people desperately need the support & generosity of the global community to help them through this nightmare.

The $2.7 billion Humanitarian Response Plan was only 6% funded. And the $1.4 billion Regional Refugee Response Plan was only 7% funded - António Guterres

Over 8 million people have fled their homes in search of safety — 1.8 million to neighbouring countries.

One year on – some 25 million people — half of Sudan’s population – need lifesaving assistance - António Guterres

It is vital to avoid any action that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East.

Civilians are already bearing the brunt & paying the highest price.

We have to actively engage all parties concerned to prevent further escalation.

We have a shared responsibility to work for peace.

Regional – and indeed global - peace and security are being undermined by the hour.
