Connecticut lawmakers led by State Representative Jeff Currey approved $350k for Hartford and New Haven youth bus passes in HB5523, the last Covid/ARPA federal grant funding. The $ go to the school boards and we’ll be looking to Connecticut Department of Transportation to create passes that get kids the most rides.

Amazing news for Hartford and New Haven high school students and increasing freedom of movement. Will be following this rollout closely. CT transit really needs to lean in and add a youth 30-day pass option to maximize the benefit

Take, Hartford - governed by a Democratic mayor and a council of 6 Democrats, 1 moderate ind., and 2 WFP. We're facing a historic school funding shortage with 100s of layoffs, and the Dems refuse to make*any* layoffs in the city's police force, one of the nation's largest.

A Democratic supermajority is choosing to defund schools dramatically rather than reduce police funding at all. Tell me again what's wreaking havoc on our communities.
