District 3 North Deputies stopped in to wish retired Volusia Sheriff’s Deputy Sylvester Jones a happy 86th birthday at the Harbor Chase Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach. Happy birthday sir!!

Sad news to report: An adult female pedestrian was killed shortly after 2 a.m. when she attempted to cross the railroad tracks in the area of 3rd Street, Holly Hill. She was struck by a northbound train. We are working to establish positive identity and notify her next of kin.

Daytona Tortugas It was just amazing what the @DaytonaTortugas did for Jenna tonight. During the 7th inning stretch she got to run the bases with the entire Tortugas and Palm Beach Cardinals rosters lining the basepaths to cheer her on. The entire ballpark was cheering. Then the fireworks went off!

I have had a lot of amazing nights at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with the Daytona Cubs and now the @DaytonaTortugas, but tonight was something special.

The way they gave Jenna the VIP treatment as she battles cancer was just incredible.

Video: Handling a call about an intruder at knifepoint, deputies were met with a subject pointing a laser in their direction. They were able to determine this was a mental health incident - no gun involved - and took the subject into protective custody.

CASE UPDATE:

JOEL ALONZO-CISNEROS is wanted for second-degree murder in the Dec. 2, 2023 homicide of Hector Hernandez-Pasquale in the DeLand area.

Cisneros' location is unknown at this time. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office.
