The WFD and WASLI Presidents meet on a regular basis to review issues of common interest. In our most recent meeting we discussed our upcoming 2027 Congresses and issues related to International Sign interpreting.

The WFD President Joseph Murray visited the Frontrunners leadership training program in Denmark for a workshop on the WFD's work.

The WFD Board held a closed meeting virtually to address matters of importance between our regular in-person board meetings. Among other decisions was to determine the dates of the XX World’s Congress of the WFD.

WFD led a project for the legal recognition of sign languages in Asia, supported by Nippon Foundation.
We completed training courses in 6 countries, Indonesia🇮🇩, Laos🇱🇦, Malaysia🇲🇾, Singapore🇸🇬, Thailand🇹🇭 and Vietnam🇻🇳.

We invited them to review the results and their advocacy work.

At the meeting with Ms Saowalak Thongkuay, a member of the #CRPD , the WFD President reaffirmed the importance of the legal recognition of sign languages and presented our toolkit to support the advocacy work of our members.

The WFD President had a meeting with Ms Lin Yang, Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme at United Nations ESCAP to discuss the legal recognition of sign languages in Asia and the Pacific.
Several opportunities for collaboration were discussed.
