West Virginia State University President Ericke S. Cage and Marshall University President Brad D. Smith held an enlightening and entertaining conversation Monday night during the premiere Conversations on Leadership event.

Appalachian Power has restored service to campus. Physical Facilities is working to bring buildings back online. All classes and normal campus operations will resume on Monday, April 8.

On this day in 1856 famed author and educator Booker T. Washington was born. Washington played an influential role in the early growth of WVSU. Today, the university honors this legacy with the Booker T. Washington Institute in his boyhood home of Malden.

The WVSU family has weathered an incredible storm this week, but our students, faculty and staff are resilient. Thank you to the Kanawha County Commission, City of Charleston, the Red Cross, the WV HEPC, and to the community for coming together to help provide for our campus.

UPDATE: The shelter in place is now lifted and the university will close for the day. All students, faculty, and staff should make their way safely home and continue to monitor weather reports throughout the evening.
