Great start to the day...42 species in 15 minutes from the Veranda including 3 Garganey, 2 Ringed plover, Great white egret, Black-tailed Godwit & Tree Sparrows.

Across the bridge highlights include Scaup, Ruff and Otter.

What wild weather we had yesterday, the Monday team had wind, hail, rain showers, thunder & lightening and some sunny spells to contend with as preparations for summer conservation activities continue.

Thankfully much calmer today 😊

Join Clive at 11am & 2pm today to explore our wetlands and have a chat about the wildlife. Sedge warbler & Cetti's warblers singing in the car park this morning. More sightings of yellow wagtail around our wetlands too.

It was a a bit Windy today WWT Welney, however sightings included a Swallow and Sand Martin as well as Waders and Wildfowl that were braving the gale force winds.

Winner of WWT’s Waterlife Photography Competition, Sukhdev Singh, collects his new SWAROVSKI OPTIK binoculars at WWT Welney. Site Manager, Lizzie Bruce, welcomed Sukhdev and Gurmej Kaur to present the prize for the winning photo - a Welney swallow.
