I've been quietly thinking about this Mai Mahiu response and I didn't wanna speak musiseme ni ukabila natetea kwetu lakini, watu wa Tana River ni wananchi wa nchi gani? Not even a useless visit from a top government officials?

Happy International Jazz Day! A Malbec and Cheick Tidiane Seck evening. I have the most wonderful memories of meeting and interviewing Cheick a few years ago when he was in Kenya for Safaricom Jazz. Lovely times 🍷

The Ministry of Water&Energy must be held accountable for the constant pain and grief caused to farmers each time we experience overflow. This time,we lost lives in the process. I raised a statement to request for feedback and I shall ensure our people are treated with respect!

What a joy seeing a Judge from Zambia relying on one of the ever brilliant Ochiengwally's journal articles to hold that the doctrine of constitutional avoidance must give way to the primacy of rights approach to adjudication. Congratulations 🎉

Youtube is really trying to make us for premium.
I am Zimbabwean and have stood in queues for money and sugar.
You think youtube ads will break me? Think again.

Garissa is the biggest town along Tana river and faces the brunt of flooding. Spillover from the Seven Forks dams, rains from Mt. Kenya's windward side, rains from Kitui hills and Garissa's flat, low-lying location combine to cause alot of flooding in the former provincial HQ.

If the cabinet secretaries feel micromanaged, they should resign. Leave him to do all the work. But wringing your hands while earning full salary and perks and expecting us to feel Woisheee is BS.

Asking why people would willingly cross rivers and drown is crazy. Girl, people are living hand to mouth. Everyone braving floods obviously has to. They have to. You don't get it because you don't have to.

I keep seeing Kenyan media (and even the First Lady) saying this was a burst dam.

It was not. There has never been a dam here.

I’m now starting to wonder why this misinformation is happening.

This land isn't riparian but a flood plain. So safaricom didn't break those approval rules per say. Just a poor uninformed decision. For Floodplains you leave them for farms, play grounds, golf, fields, etc. Not that it's illegal to build, just that it's a bad decision to build.

Let’s normalize saying “elected representatives” instead of “elected leaders”. Saying “leaders” has the connotation of being surbordinate to these individuals or subject to their rule. We vote to be represented. Not ruled or dictated upon. Our wishes & needs should carry the day.
