don’t really see anyone talking about this but: arrestees at CUNY were charged with *felonies* while arrestees at Columbia were charged with misdemeanors. nobody should be charged with anything but it is a travesty that poorer & racialized students bear the brunt of this struggle

my mother was a professor in ‘75 & got arrested for defending her students. Many of her colleagues distanced themselves & a black lawmaker tried to get her fired. She’s the one who taught me that some of the people that hate kids the most end up in academia. Power to the people.

I was raised in a home where healthy self-esteem was not fostered. I thought pursuing my passion to be an attorney would help boost self-esteem. I love the work that I do and want to be great at it, but the lingering sense of not being good enough to meet the moment lingers.
