The Senate Judiciary Committee just considered the nomination of Rebecca Pennell to the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. She would bring to the bench valuable experience from a long career of defending individual rights and 16 years as a public defender.

It's long-past time to stop pretending that the Supreme Court is some kind of virtuous entity that floats above politics and rules on the merits. Congress needs to put in place stringent ethics rules and be honest about the fact that our courts are full of partisan hacks, too.
