According to ridiculous NHS rules Psychiatrists with 13 years of training can’t diagnose ADHD.

But anyone who does a 4 week (120 hour) course and reads through a tick sheet can.

They charge £500 an hour, instead of the £35 it would cost the NHS.

It’s a scam.

PAs are now using nursing as a stepping stone to a PA course.

This PA student worked fewer than 6 months as a nurse before starting their PA course, which they applied for in March of their final year of nursing.

Why are we turning qualified nurses into fake doctors?

‘Then in some places they’re doing psychiatric assessments as well ‘

So basically every UK junior doctor now needs to refuse to supervise any PA Or risk their license to practice ! Use this leverage it’s better than striking in terms of scuppering Tories NHS on the cheap plan !

And in a moment it was done:

2014
PA leadership asked 135 Physician assistants if they felt their title should change from Physician's assistant to Physician Associate and 135 agreed.

This title change was inflicted on 65 million UK people by the leadership of 135 PAs.

Strong statement from the RCPEdin
We need a national scope of practice that keeps patients safe.

All expansion and recruitment should pause while this is worked out.

I’d literally give my left bollock to have this job.

Paid to *shadow* a reg?
Paid time during the day to learn echo theory and practice?
Clinic time?
Only two days of ward work.

Band 8a pay?!

Doctors are fucking mugs at this point.

Once again, we are at the point where no one can provide an answer to the question of what unique skills PAs bring to the medical MDT

£68,000 for a PA with 1 year experience. Doctors are criminally underpaid. This is more than a registrar is paid at the highest pay point (ST6+).

Continue to strike.

GMC Hull York Medical School Did you really find Doctor Sarah Benn guilty of professional misconduct after she was imprisoned for peaceful protest? Why are you such an awful
Organisation? Letting non doctors work as doctors even in NICU but sayings doc is unprofessional for peaceful protest?

GMC Hull York Medical School ‘Misunderstanding of new and emerging roles’

The only people misunderstanding the role are the PAs themselves, and the GMC.

We’re very clear about the role, so much so we have our own scope document to follow.

There’s no such thing as “being trained in the medical model”

You either have a medical degree or you don’t.

You either are a doctor or you’re not.

There are no grey areas here

This could prove an interesting case

If you are a Doctor, introduce yourself as Dr

If not, dont

Likewise you could be a , , or 1st responder - introduce yourself as such

'Medic' is meaningless and used only to confuse - just dont use it

That’s somebody’s child, parent or sibling. It’s crazy how unfiltered some of these posts are. I can’t imagine there’s too many similar videos of doctors doing the same thing out there?

The GMC is now consulting on how its regulation of PAs and AAs will work.

The consultation is open to members of the public, and we've produced a short guide to be used by clinicians and patients who are keen to provide views.

Doctors,

Interested in getting more involved with your union, in representing and advocating for your medical colleagues?

Joining your The BMA Local Negotiating Committee (LNC) is an excellent way to get stuck in!

Training is provided, so get in touch!

There's something very dodgy about using paramedic credentials to prescribe sedation so you can complete endoscopy training and then carry out procedures as a PA.

Even if it's legal, it's clearly not how these training pathways were intended to work.

Hello RCHT

Is this factually correct or errors made in response?

As per NHS England NHS England Workforce, Training and Education Royal College of Physicians Faculty of PAs @ RCP
PAs CANNOT prescribe due to safety issues

If accurate, this needs stopping.
Now.

Leaders across organisations- what HAVE you unleashed across the NHS?

Once more for the people at the back….

DISCHARGE SUMMARIES ARE NOT EMERGENCIES.

They can, will, and absolutely SHOULD wait until the medical team have eaten/drank some water/been to the loo and taken their contractually valid break.
