Celebrating an extraordinary manuscript. It's great fun to listen while reading the first page of the letter on display.

I have a trio of Cumbrian events coming up, in-person & online!

This is a little flurry of poetry readings, before I plunge headlong into events for the novel in a couple of months. It'd be lovely to see some friendly faces in the audience 😊

On this day in 1770, 254 years ago, William Wordsworth was born.
The Wordsworth family bible, shown here, records details of his birth: 'William, second son [of John and Ann Wordsworth née Cookson], born the 7th April 1770 at ten o'clock at night'.

Take a look at our delicately beautiful collection of decorated pace eggs. These were painted by James Dixon, who worked for Wordsworth for 33 years as his gardener and clerk at Rydal Mount. It is thought James made these Pace Eggs for William and Mary's grandchildren.

Had the pleasure of visiting Dove Cottage today Wordsworth Grasmere
What a fabulous way to spend a few hours. Made more special as Wordsworth was my Mum’s favourite poet. She would have loved it here too
