I'm very fond of the Ringed Plover and I love this photo of four of them waiting on the tideline. They look a little bit like miniature penguins.

A photograph lets you study a bird in detail. Look at the character in this rook's face.

I kept walking past the place where I'd heard a Water Rail but he refused to show himself. Then, just as the sun was going down, out he came!
I knelt in a very deep puddle to get this shot.

I followed this Woodlark for a while before he stopped and posed for me. He kindly displayed his crest too.
These birds are usually seen a long way away on the other side of a field. So it was nice to see one close up.

Isabelline shrike! It derives its name from Isabella which is pale cream brown colour. It perches on dry and thorny bushes. It is known to hunt its prey and impale it on thorns before consuming! #IndiAves #BBCWildlifePOTD #BirdTwitter #birdwatching #birdphotography #ThePhotoHour
I always think cygnets have such gentle faces. Those soft, downy feathers are almost like fur.

I love the gentle 'cooing' sounds that eider species make. This one is a female Spectacled Eider, snoozing in the sun.
