The United Nations Security Council has extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) for one year to April 2025.
The resolution maintains the four main pillars of the peacekeeping mission's mandate.

A review of the state of implementation to the #SouthSudan peace agreement by the parties is underway - ostensibly to decide whether the plan for elections in Dec 2024 can still hold. Here's what it looked like a few weeks back:

A delegation from Union of Journalists of South Sudan #SouthSudan visited NCHR RWANDA to benchmark on its work, policies and strategies for human rights promotion & protection, as well as collaboration mechanisms with media houses & press. They learnt more about the Commission and its functioning.

The YPS actors from the DRC, Burundi, South Sudan n Uganda convened in Kampala for a 3 days training, aimed at building the regional capacity in peacebuilding & enhancing youth participation in the fight against regional threats to Peace and Security.

Had the privilege of meeting with youth-led organizations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports 🇸🇸 in the monthly Partners’ Forum. The aim of the meeting was to enhance the collaboration and partnership among youth-led organizations, and stakeholders and share insights best practices, and experiences.

News from Radio Tamazuj stated that Dr. Riang Yer Zuor, the Chairperson of the #NDRC has just said today that the constitution will be ready to guide the forthcoming elections as stipulated by the revitalized peace agreement. I like the fact of this talking coming to reality.

It is really eye-opening to South Sudanese civil society, partners, stakeholders, and signatories of the 2018 peace agreement. It is indeed a fascinating sneak peek of fresh perceptions of 2024.
