Genuinely don't trust job adverts that list the salary as 'competitive'. Either the salary isn't actually competitive so you daren't say, or you are hoping someone will lowball themselves and are happy with pay inequity.

I dont get this at all. Made some amazing friends during my PhD, and my existing friends? Well they'd have supported me whatever I chose to do and still do.

Overwork lose-lose: Study (N=230) finds when a woman does the same amt & quality of work in 40 hrs as a man does in 60 hrs, the man receives greater rewards. And if the women works 60 hrs, the 60-hr men are more 8% more likely to receive overwork rewards.

What I've noted, at least in my field, is that the professors spouting the nonsense that 'DEI doesn't work' have hugely undiverse, large research groups. So how can they say that, when they've never experienced running a diverse research group?
