This clearly means he opted for Fiqh instead of Hadith. This is outrageous, and not acceptable without a clear proof.

There's nowhere it was said he chose the circle of Fiqh over the circle of Hadith as claimed in the video, which is our bone of contention. I am not disputing there were halaqaats of Tauheed, Hadith and Fiqh. Perhaps you can help with a proof of that claim. Shukran ya Sheikh.

Imam Abu Haneefah was a Muftil 'Aam. He was not the type of scholar that would choose a section of Islamic scholarship and leave the other. I found that statement unbefitting of scholar of his standing.

It would help if you can cite some examples.

Of course he knows Hadith very well! But where was it narrated that he left Hadith circle for Fiqh circle as claimed in the video? That is the bone of contention.

Scholars of Hadith are mostly the scholars of Fiqh, when we are talking about authoritative scholarship in Islam. And I doubt Imam Abu Haneefah would ever stay away from Hadith circle. That's my reservation.

Quran and Hadith are the primary sources of Sharia. Fiqh is the jurisprudence of their application. Fiqh and Hadith are not alternatives, as this post seems to posit. In fact, Fiqh has no basis without Hadith, as most of it relies on Hadith.
