Happy
I was a bit surprised (pleasantly) to read this neat article on Soil and regenerative agriculture on Women's Health this morning. An homage to 'Indigenous agriculture (that) is rooted in respect for the land.'

An exquisite embroidery that will, indeed, always remind me of the breathtaking Arctic landscape and soils.
But more importantly, a wonderful and generous gift from the amazing Dr. Colleen Iversen (She/Her). Thank you, my friend! 🀎

One of the most important things we did during my time as Director of DOE Office of Science is to raise graduate student pay to 45 k/yr.

This news is huge. The entire Canadian government is now doing the same … biggest boost to PhD & postdoc pay in 20yrs

Serving at U.S. Department of Energy DOE Office of Science under the leadership of Secretary Jennifer Granholm was incredibly inspiring and energizing. So honored to be part of the team. Thank you for your leadership and kind words. I look forward to our paths crossing again.

Yesterday was my last day as Director DOE Office of Science. The last 3yrs were incredible. We’ve accomplished a lot and it was an absolute pleasure to work with an amazing team … it’s the highlight of my career!
I’m excited to be back at UC Merced. Can’t wait to get back to it all.

It's easy to overlook the soil beneath our feet, or to think of it as just dirt to be cleaned up. But soil wraps the world in an envelope of life: It grows food, regulates the climate and makes the planet habitable.

Interesting read.
By 2050, one in four people on the planet will be African, a seismic change that’s already starting to register.
The implications of this β€œyouthquake” … are reverberating across the continent and the world.
