After 10.5 years, I’ve been laid off by openDemocracy.

This round of redundancy included most of the UK team. Three longstanding sections - oDR, ourEconomy and democraciaAbierta - were all also shut/mothballed in the last 6 months: a total of 21 journalists redundant.

I’ve been laid off by openDemocracy, along with a load of my amazing colleagues in the UK. Another bad day for good journalism in this country

If anyone needs an editor, reporter, barman, ageing centre forward or hype man hit me up

I’ve been made redundant from openDemocracy along with several of the kindest, most supportive and talented people I’ve had the honour of working with

I’m now looking for new opportunities. Here are some of the stories I’m most proud of:

Ramzy is a brilliant editor, he's made all my stories shine and made me a much stronger reporter. I'll really miss working with him.

The Times have finally picked up the story of the Braverman’s homes, funded by us, in Rwanda being sold off.

Adam Bychawski reported back in January that 50% had been sold. Times reporting today 70%. We’re building more homes in Rwanda than we are here.

Are we doing another round of “why is there not an infinite stream of hospitality workers available to work all sorts of horrible hours for me” discourse again?

Ruby really gets to heart of how the constant cycle of evictions and rent increases – met with political silence – are not only unjust, but also disempowering for renters.

So-called 'permitted development' was introduced in 2013 under David Cameron. To date, it's estimated to have cost England 25,000 affordable homes.

The Tories blame immigration for the housing crisis while expanding policies like this.
