I'd say this applies to all the ways women have tried to coddle & heal men only to have it weaponized against us, especially the whole 'men aren't allowed emotions.' Then men use that to excuse their abusive behavior because we're supposed to support their 'emotions.'

Many men will act like it's simply logical to reduce the amount of effort they put into a friendship with a woman after getting rejected, and then we get asked why we don't like it when male friends ask us out or why we don't see much value in having straight male friends at all.

You'll never look at the MRA argument that patriarchy oppresses men because they're the ones who fight in wars the same way once you find out that a lot of early gendered division of labor revolved around restricting women's access to tools and weapons to maintain male control.

It's kinda perfect that whenever I say that masculinity is inherently toxic, I get people assuming this is some sort of pro-femininity stance, and whenever I say womanhood is constructed by subordination, I get people assuming I think everyone should aspire to 'manhood' instead.

I know this mostly just looks funny to anyone else, but my burning hatred of queer theory is actually kind of tied to religious trauma because of how easy it is to take the most patriarchal concepts ever and just reimagine them as subversive instead without changing anything.

It's wild the way people will say 'women are misogynistic too' whenever someone points out that misogyny from men is almost inescapable, as if the fact that women will often support abusive men somehow exonerates men from criticism and makes them safer rather than more dangerous.

They'll tell you that you should've just been less friendly, but if you talk about how women are socially required to be warm and emotionally available to men, and how this is about facilitating exploitation by men (including sexual exploitation), they'll call you a misandrist.

It's so cool how liberals will weaponize the fact that gender socialization is universally violent to say absurd antifeminist shit like, 'Men are oppressed by patriarchy and have only mistaken this oppression for power and privilege!' As if power is not a structural reality.
