Today's executive order on AI reportedly calls for AI up-skilling. If there is a new AI training program for federal supervisors and management professionals, I can recommend a useful text for the syllabus: mitpress.mit.edu/9780262548328/…

At age 17 I made one of the wisest decisions of my life. Withdrew my enrollment from a school with a much bigger name at the time+ opted for a mid-size public uni.

I cannot overstate the richness of my experience there. I've been many places since, but UMBC is my scholarly home.

Why go to Princeton is a good question. I think for well-off and brilliant students we push them into the very most elite, intensive schools when maybe they need more choice on what they really want from their education and if they want to go to college at all.

Coding It Forward application is open! It's an amazing 10-week paid program for early-career data scientists who 'consider' working in the public sector: codingitforward.com/fellowship (I wish I had applied for this while I was in grad school).

The more I advance as a researcher the more satisfied I feel with modest findings that tell meaningful stories.

So much research (especially empirical social science in the past two decades) has celebrated flashy methods and research designs that feel like substantive truisms.

An issue I keep encountering in my research is that my brain still defaults to believing the year is 2020, meaning articles from 2014 are only a few years old in my head as opposed to nearly a decade old in reality.
