As you prepare your ROL for , here's a few suggestions & unsolicited advice:

Intestinal spirochetosis, easy to overlook at low power. Highlighted nicely by IHC for T. pallidum. Note the fuzzy basophilic fringe on the surface epithelium resulting from colonization by Brachyspira species.

A patient comes in with hand wounds 👐. Grows a mixed culture, but some of the colonies are pitted with a bleachy odor.

Who am I? And to what group of organisms do I belong?

Oren Gottfried, MD Besides the placenta obstructing the cervix, and besides the risk of prepartum hemorrhage, there is also increased risk of placenta accreta spectrum. The decidua of the lower uterine segment is thin, making invasion by the placenta easier.
