I just overheard my 3yo say,

“happiness is chicken”

And he is very much giving the same energy as his father in a Nando's 🌶️ 🐓

I was recently able to answer a pretty complex clinical query based on a fact I originally remembered seeing and learnt on Twitter (and subsequently independently verified to be true ofc)

I learn a lot here, but pretty cool I can directly attribute this clinical advice to it

If you doom-monger about every new variant, making apocalyptic claims and ignoring the impact of hybrid immunity

This is the sort of plant that grows from that fertile ground

Vaccines and your immune system are amazing - THAT is the message

Tying a medical intervention to an ideology (in particular political ideology) has to be one of the most destructive and harmful things you can do

It is the ultimate enemy of evidence based healthcare

Every time I hear a health care professional refer to “stronger antibiotics” in reference to broader spectrum a small piece of me dies inside forever

The age at which scientists or inventors achieve their moment of genius increasing: Half of all pioneering contributions in science now happen after age 40, it used to be younger.

Why? There is much more to master before making a contribution to a field. nber.org/papers/w19866

Possible for Guinea worm, poliio & a few NTDs

Terrific clear thread!

“Fever is beneficial. There is no need to treat it, unless it is causing distress/discomfort (which it often does). Some children tolerate fever well, and if so just leave them alone!

*Treat the child, not the fever*”

Brilliant thread hacking through the myriad myths that surround fever in children (one of which is even perpetuated on the @NHSE website!).

I study bullying. The poor behaviour of academics and MDs on Twitter is gross. It illustrates the link between bullying and narcissism and debunks the stereotype of bullies being low achieving goons.

Public trust is eroded when we act like this. So frustrating to see.

Reminded of this tweet. Funny how suggesting we should strive for civility is called “tone policing” by people who act like jerks.

Trying to decide if the reason I felt so satisfied after work today was because I was so productive or just because I ate an entire Easter egg before lunch and honestly it’s hard to say
