Several climate and energy bills have moved forward to the next step of the legislative process. In this blog, we outline nine great sections that we are eagerly advocating for in Massachusetts.

Obstructionists say taking urgent climate action would be too expensive - because they assume that taking no action costs nothing

In reality, inaction so far will cost ONE FIFTH of global income by 2050

Ending fossil fuels is the cheapest and least disruptive option we have

NEW: Gov. Maura Healey sees Trump as a threat to Mass.’ offshore wind industry — and she’s vowing to make sure he doesn’t blow it down.

“We can't let Donald Trump get away w/ continuing to lie” about climate, she tells POLITICO

A single gas leak in Pennsylvania vented more than 1.4B cubic ft of methane into the atmosphere. That’s as much climate pollution as 261 coal plants! There’s nothing “clean” about “ '

We have so many solutions. Implement them.

New research published in Nature today finds that we are on track for climate damages worth $38 trillion per year by 2050. This is a staggering figure. The damages are projected to be worth 6x more than the mitigation costs of limiting global warming to 2C.…

If the climate 'sceptics' are wrong (and they almost certainly are) they are advocating for a course of action that would result in a century of rolling humanitarian disasters, geopolitical instability, and economic stagnation - and that's the best case scenario.

This is your periodic reminder that if the climate 'sceptics' are right (and there is not a science academy or government in the world that thinks they are) we are in the process of misallocating about one per cent of GDP in pursuit of net zero.

If you write anything on climate change on here the reaction is now routinely swamped by trolls and 'sceptics'. But it's still mind-blowing that anyone can look at stories of harvests failing and then blanket reject studies warning of big economic impacts. businessgreen.com/news-analysis/…

Well, this sounds suboptimal

New study finds climate change likely to do $38 trillion in economic damage a year by 2050.

(Total current world gdp is $101 trillion)

CONFIRMED!

Possibly barring the immediate aftermath of the dinosaur-killing impact at the K-Pg boundary, the global average temperature and carbon dioxide levels are now climbing faster than at any point in the entire geological record.

If you aren't terrified, you should be.

Some climate & earth system insights:
1. Carbon sinks may become less effective
as the climate warms
2. The carbon budget is getting smaller
3. Climate overshoot has risks
4. Don't forget to reduce non-CO2 emissions

Permafrost contains twice as much carbon as the atmosphere. It's now thawing and emitting more co2 and methane than it absorbs. This amplifying feedback is way sooner than expected, although the evidence was there by 2018 when I included it in the Deep Adaptation Forum paper.…
