Why I’m not on social media much today…well, the pergola my husband & I installed 10 yrs ago, made of insect-resistant lumber, was previously infested w/termites & now has carpenter bees & scorpions nesting inside. My work thus far (yes, I have to fix the back fence too).

Just finished handing out the last giant bag of candy and turned off the porch light. Counting the candy and dividing by two pieces per child gives us a figure of 730 trick-or-treaters this year, down a bit from 2022, likely due to cold weather. Some fabulous costumes this year!

So I’m in Rockport, having just taken the trash outside, and I saw the most marvelous thing—two fireflies. I haven’t seen those here since 1962, and I haven’t seen them at all, anywhere, since 1993. Kind of remarkable.

Oh, I shouldn’t have looked at this. I was busy convincing myself that it was still cooler here than other places in Tx. Heat-index-wise, it’s hotter. Much.
