Today, the White House announced a final rule for minimum staffing requirements in nursing homes whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…. The final rule was just released: public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2024-08273.pdf. AOTA staff is analyzing the final rule to understand the potential impact on OT practitioners.

There are currently 53 million unpaid caregivers in the U.S.

Ty Lewis, who cares for her elderly mother with Alzheimer's while also raising her own children, is one of them — and she has built a community for those who feel left behind and emotionally and financially drained.

Academia definitely has challenges. However, it also has a lot of wonderful people who are in it for the goal of supporting and uplifting other wonderful people, and seeing that happen makes me smile.
