Universities like Columbia, Cornell and Emory trade on Vietnam Era protests to market themselves to student activists. Protest is part of their brand and sales pitch. Now they're punishing students for taking them at their word. 🧵

The people in Nader's mentions hand-wringing about kids skipping class to protest must not be familiar with the (successful) 1963 CPS boycott where some 200K primary school-aged kids protested racial segregation (look up 'Willis Wagons') in the district.
