Gutted to hear of P4K cuts in a merger that will frame music as just another branch of consumerist lifestyle. With ad spend issues etc, cultural journalism will need independence, reader-funding & paid support from labels who so rely on it to build emotional connection w/ artists

We're fully booked at OTO this year, so if I don't get back to you don't be offended. There really need to be more venues for this sort of music in London. A bit of a disaster losing the likes of IKLECTIK and Boat-ting.

This also isn't true in the case of the Guardian, where as a freelancer you're more likely to be commissioned if you're coming with stories that don't fit a conventional taste profile, and which are surprising/odd

Not in the case of The Guardian, which is drawn from votes of writers, with no reordering to fit some kind of 'branding/traffic exercise'. Our writers just actually liked those songs (though those similar lists are interesting in terms of what your averaged-out music writer likes)
