Recent articles by Kelly Burke take a welcome look under the big tent of live music in Australia

This support from the Vic gov for live music at a grassroots level is welcome at a time when festivals and venues are being cancelled.
Particularly welcome is that all venues successful in gaining funding must pay artists a minimum fee of $250.

Elon Musk might say Tesla is preparing for its “next growth phase cycle,” but laying off 14,000 people after news the mass-market vehicle was canceled and sales are dropping doesn’t suggest things are going all that great. reuters.com/business/autos…

Credit to Channel Ten for running the defence. ABC and News Corp settled, and paid $445,000 of Lehrmann's legal costs, with the ABC removing the recording of the Higgins-Tame Press Club event.
Sometimes its worth the fight.

So all that Job-Ready Graduates did (which we all warned about!) was to saddle young Australians with even bigger debts. Slow clap for Dan Tehan and everyone else (including Rebekah Sharkie) who enabled this dreadful bit of policy ‘reform’:

Something of an admission from Chalmers here, where he basically says public investment under Future Made in Australia won’t be that much, and that the private sector will have to provide the required investment for decarbonisation

gradually weirder how closely Philip K Dick tracked..not events, so much, but the sort of characters running first half of the twenty-first century on Earth.

weirder if the characters in question ~read PKD and we just live in a world where they aspire to be Palmer Eldritch.

My research team are on 'One Tree Island' - in the trying to better understand the impact of the current mass event on the corals, the fish, the invertebrates, the microbes and neighbouring soft-sedimentary habitats.

It's grim.

This year more than 60% of the vast Great Barrier Reef has experienced severe (orange) or extreme levels (red) of mass coral bleaching.

Every type of coral has been affected.

Because there are no “winners” in a warmer ocean, only comparative losers.

These sobering pictures from Dr John Turnbull show the breadth of species, habitats and morphologies affected this summer by severe mass bleaching, including long-lived & slow-growing coral species.

Listening to an indie band who all went to a £40,000 a year private school, I read a novel by an author who went to a £40,000 a year private school and pause to read the news written by a selection of people who went to £40,000 a year private schools. I love British culture.

🚨WHAT CLIMATE CHANGE LOOKS LIKE🚨

It's been the driest 6 months EVER in South West WA

Images by Piers Verstegen at Mt Mehniup where used to have one of the highest rainfalls

Majority of vegetation is now dead on north facing side, including mature trees there for many decades

Seems to me that lots of the same people who told us we can’t have higher wages and were wrong about that are the same people telling us we can’t have more good manufacturing jobs.
