I wrote about this TWO YEARS AGO. It’s been a problem for ages.

The number one thing I hear from attorneys is about their long list of incarcerated clients who are deemed “miss outs” in court — partly because of transportation.

If you live in Los Angeles, you’ve probably seen these stanchions strategically placed across the city…but what are they?

Most unhoused ppl I've interviewed say sanitation cleanups are necessary but the way in which the city conducts them is flawed and cruel. I've seen people lose everything they own because they were working and weren't able to move their stuff before sanitation trashed it.

Seeing so many of my favorite LA Times staff who are excellent journalists getting laid off today. What a terrible day.

Starting Jan 1st in California, police can no longer entrap you by asking you if you know why they stopped you.

Instead, they have to state the reason why they stopped you before they can ask any other questions.

Story time: In 2019, LA Taco was doing big numbers in terms of reaching audience but we were struggling financially. So I did what I thought was best for this thing I helped build that I loved. I left. My salary off the books, helped it stay afloat and continue to grow.

Today LAist announced the plan to eliminate 21 roles, including at least 7 unit members, amid a company-wide “restructuring,” that will reduce the newsroom by 10%.
