Some stranded individuals at the North Port Passenger Terminal use container vans as temporary shelters. They say it is difficult to observe physical distancing as they cram inside container vans during heavy rains. ABS-CBN News

Some of the stranded passengers have been staying here since August 2. Their trips to the provinces were suspended because of the reimposed MECQ. Most of them say they have been relying on donations from volunteers and port personnel. ABS-CBN News

Aside from the lack of social distancing, another problem stranded individuals face is hunger. Gladys Yanong says they get to eat only one meal a day.

“Hindi kami mamamatay sa #COVID19 , mamamatay kami sa gutom. Kung sino may pagkain, hati kami. Pag wala, wala rin.” ABS-CBN News

Remegio Mandiuia says they are left with no choice but to sleep on the ground. He also laments lack of toilets.

“Pag nag-CR kami, may curfew pa. Pag lagpas 8 pm, hindi na kami pinapapasok doon. Kaya dito nangangamoy na ng ihi kasi minsan di na makapunta doon eh.” ABS-CBN News

LOOK: Aside from the SMD Area, 131 stranded passengers are also staying at the Concourse Area and 49 more at the Arrivals Area of the North Port Passenger Terminal. Senior citizens and those traveling with children are given priority. ABS-CBN News
