The children spotted this absolute beauty yesterday in the kindergarten garden 🫶🏼They were so fascinated and watched it for ages. They excitedly came to find me to show me the giant moth!

Today’s are both polyploid superstars. P. ‘Betty Myles Young’ from Myles Stewart Irvine is my absolute favourite hardy (until ‘Damsel’s Delight’ opens its first flower!) here growing indoors.
P. ‘Monika Fischer’ (not hardy) from Dr Roland Fischer is an absolute stunner.

Megabunus diaema with its bulging eye turret (ocularium), crowned with impressive spikes is a species of Opiliones that one would have trouble confusing with any other of the UKs Harvestmen.

Tulip ‘Purissima Design’ a couple of weeks ago was looking fantastic with its creamy pale yellow flowers and very attractive yellow edged leaves.

First you spot a little weevil … and then you see them everywhere, making merry with the Hollyhocks. Aspidapion radiolus, about 3mm long and rather hairy.

💕DWARF, YES - BUT LITTLE? NOT SO MUCH!
Standard Dwarf Bearded (SDB) Iris 'Cat's Eye' (Paul Black, 2002) can make quite a statement, where space permits a single rhizome can spread as many feet across as years the plant is old! Here after heavy thinning - vigorous! Iridaceae

A top mini-beast encounter in SW Turkey today. This Spoon-winged Lacewing a.k.a. Thread-winged Antlion is something I'd hoped to see on my visit. Believe it is Nemoptera sinuata - happy for confirmation or correction 🙂

First flower from ‘Sue Beardshaw’ a lovely, free flowering and well behaved hybrid from breeder Colin Beardshaw.
Hard to source but well worth the effort!

People who say viruses don’t exist aren’t reviled, normal people just think you’re idiots and people will make fun of you like they do with flat earthers. It’s your ego that calls this being reviled as a coping mechanism.
