#BiosecurityforWales ' Conservation Detection Dog Jinx did a pre-season rat check of Skomer Island last week. We can confirm that Skomer remains a rat-free seabird haven! As Skomer and Skokholm Island open up again to visitors, make sure you do your bit to keep them rat free!

Unfortunately high winds prevented a conservation detection dog check The Farne Islands today….although we did leave the harbour this time! Fingers crossed 3rd time lucky later on this year! Great to chat #biosecurity with harbour commission & local tour boat operators though.

Laura and Kuki carried out a pre-season check for brown rats on Coquet Island today before the seabirds take up residence for the summer. It’s a bit easier to move around on the 8ha island before the 40,000 breeding seabirds arrive…quite a bit quieter too!

Interesting couple of days joining the North Devon Biosphere team who have incorporated #biosecurity on seabird islands into their marine wildlife accreditation scheme. Great to meet local businesses engaged with protecting the natural environment around Lundy & N.Devon.
