Hot off the press: In March, the Salt Lake City Government Building Services Division received 821 building permit applications and issued 848 permits. The permits issued anticipate 828 new housing units with a valuation of $199 million. The team also completed 5,535 inspections. 👏

In February, the Salt Lake City Government Building Services Division received 796 building permit applications and issued 734 permits. The permits issued anticipate 910 new housing units with a valuation of $716 million. The team also completed 5,040 inspections during the month!

Out here now with the Building Services Division and have issued a Stop Work Order. Thank you to the City staff that caught this shameful and illegal demolition before it was too late. This building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Department of Community & Neighborhoods has 73 active building permits for ADUs since Salt Lake City Council updated the ordinance in April 2023. From 2018-2022, there were 170 ADUs permitted, which averages 34 annually. In short, Salt Lake City Government has doubled the annual average in 9 months.
