Show up with gratitude.
Be present.
When a bad thought enters the mind, you can choose to have a good thought next.

“Winning isn’t the point.
Wanting to win is the point.

Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point.

The game is never over. The secret of the game is in doing your best. To persist & endure.”

The GREATEST sports parents are those who let the coaches coach, the officials officiate, are their children’s biggest support system, and spend more time and energy focusing on their child’s character, work ethic, and education, than anything else.

Average is not elite.
Players can't expect to put in an average effort & become elite.
There is nothing wrong with average.
But, there is something wrong with giving an average effort & expecting elite results.
Settle for average, stay average.
Demand elite, become elite.

Parents: Stop:

Coaching from the stands
Yelling at refs
Lecturing your kids after games
Talking about teammates
Telling your kids to ignore coaching
Playing the blame game
Making failure unacceptable

You don’t need to coach. Be supportive. Offer encouragement & just love them!

Players: Enjoy your HS playing days. There’s nothing like playing in front of a crowd of your community members, friends & family & playing alongside classmates. The sense of community & school pride is unbeatable. Relish it; rejoice in it; respect it. It’s over before you know.

Your kid!!

The best players can figure out solutions on their own, they don’t need help from the stands. Each game is an opportunity for players to learn how to do that. Yes, they will fail, but they will learn. And ultimately…

Have fun. That’s the reason you began. Don’t ever lose that fire & excitement

Compete. If you’re going to play, give 100%

Don’t ever be afraid to fail. It’s inevitable & one of the most valuable ways to learn.
