Quick thread on the Astra Zeneca (AZ) covid vaccine since it's been in the news today.

TLDR there isn't a new 'smoking gun', the AZ vax was one of first and cheapest, it saved millions of lives globally, there are better vax out there now, adapted to new variants 1/9

ATAGI recommends a covid vaccine every 12 months for people aged 65-74 and every 6 months for 75+. What if they have recently had covid? (Previous ATAGI advice suggested no vaccine if confirmed covid infection in previous 6 months.)

The latest NSW Respiratory Surveillance Report shows that respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) activity is high. COVID-19 and influenza activity is low. Now is the recommended time to get your influenza vaccine.
