To clarify. Poilievre’s ‘city bonus’ plan is to come from a $100 million program for the entire country. Enough to build a single 400 unit apartment building. The current government’s Housing Accelerator Fund gives $4 billion to cities to help them build housing.

Time to reconnect the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 franchise history and records to the Winnipeg Jets 2.0. Archive the Atlanta years.

I often get stopped on the street by people who want to chat. I always enjoy it.

Just rode past a guy who yells from the sidewalk. “Hey Brent Bellamy” I waved and said “Hi, how are you?” He yells back, “F*CK YOU, YOU GENTRIFYING LOSER!”

Pretty funny. Real life trolling is rare.

A great chart showing housing starts per person in Canada from 1949 to 2021. Housing affordability is directly related to the ability of supply to meet demand. We haven’t been building enough for a long time.

My column today. Building a lot more “expensive” market-rate housing can actually make your city’s housing cheaper.

Toronto Blue Jays fans are upset that the Home Plate Lady who sat right behind the plate for years has been moved to the side with new renovations to the stadium.

I’m more upset with the drab grey fake stone they used on the walls.

My column today: Affordability can only be solved by building lots of housing at all price points. This includes often criticized market-rate housing that lowers overall rents by increasing competition. It also frees up affordable space in older buildings. winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/analys…

Line up around the block for the final days of Mitzi’s. The inventors of the local delicacy Honey Dill sauce. Not sure how the rest of the world eats chicken fingers to be honest.

Another classic Winnipeg institution lost.

The price of gasoline in Canada has increased by 20 cents per litre over the last 90 days, but the going up by 3 cents is somehow cascading through the economy, driving inflation, increasing food prices, and bankrupting small business.

Watching something that came out of your imagination rise from the ground is the best part of being an architect. Manitoba Métis Federation mixed-use retail, office, and 55-plus apartment building in downtown Selkirk. Number TEN Architectural Group

83% of Canadians live in a province with a clean energy grid. The Premier’s argument that hydro electricity makes Manitoba unique is not correct. Canada’s three largest provinces all have significantly lower per capita emissions than Manitoba. Should they be exempt too?

Imagine if we built roads to the capacity of their lowest period of use as many “waddabout winter” people suggest we do with bike lanes. So many streets are built to accommodate peak volumes that occur one hour per day, but are substantially over-built for the majority of time.
