If I ever get asked to do a land acknowledgment, I wouldn’t be very good at it because I’d use the opportunity to explain how it the Indigenous nations were dispossessed and offer up remedies for ending the ongoing injustice, and I don’t think that’s what they’re wanting to hear!

I watched a show about hoarders and one woman lived with rats bigger than cats and the other hoarded cats, dead or alive. I couldn’t make it through one episode because it was too revolting to even watch. I feel bad for the people who suffer from this mental illness. Sad stuff

Blood quantum as definitive of Native American identity is gross to me. My grandchildren shouldn’t have to reproduce with a Pawnee, Ponca or Kiowa just to purify the “blood” of my descendants. We are not animals defined by breeding practices like show dogs. Our culture is bigger

Took my son flying over the city and he got in there like a seasoned vet and I’m not ashamed to admit I was a bit scared flying around on a windy day in that little tin can with propellers!

My five-year-old daughter read a “Made in China” sticker on a toy and thinks it is exceptionally special for that fact 😂

More Native American representation in public office and professions starts with teaching proper U.S. history in schools because Native Americans have been whitewashed out of history to cover land theft such that most people believe we are a historical people, not modern

Native American actors being cast in films and shows for roles that do not involve Native Americans is probably the rarest thing in Hollywood and it needs to happen more. Indigenous actors have a far more diverse range inclusive of more than historical characters from the 1800s!

It’s interesting to me that conservative Christian types are up in arms claiming Rhianna playing dress up as a nun offensively mocks their religion and yet those very same people are vehemently against Native Americans who state that mascots are mockery. That’s called hypocrisy!

Probably the thing that makes me most proud to be Native American is that my Ponca, Pawnee and Kiowa ancestors didn’t just take being oppressed, they resisted and fought back because they could. They didn’t care that the U.S. government was more powerful. It was general principle

When you really love ‘merica but also really hated paying attention to your history teacher back in school. So embarrassing for this guy

This is almost word for word what the Whites said about Native Americans resisting U.S. imperialism and land theft in the late 1800s. Truly incredible.

Today in 1865, a Native American named Donehogawa of the Seneca wrote the Articles of Surrender at Appomattox signed by Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant that ended the Civil War. Less known is the US denied him civil rights before, during and after that war despite his service
