iPhone : Indigenous #UAlbertaLaw alumni, join us for this inaugural gathering on Jan 29! The program includes keynote remarks from prominent alumni, a visual presentation of photos & reconnecting via breakout groups.

iPhone : lil neuroma removal, targeted muscle reinnervation and regenerative peripheral nerve interface 🎤 🕺🏾…

iPhone : Tonight he is very ill in the hospital in Prince George and so my family is just asking for lots of prayers for our dear Uncle Ben tonight and for the week. We’ve been through so much, as many Nehiyaw families do, and we just can’t take much more tbh. Ugh. Prayers Uncle. 🙏🏽❤️

iPhone : I’m happy to find his remarks made to a BC Leg Committee where he has only 10 mins to advocate for so many Justice needs back home in Fort St. John - legal aid, family law, youth criminal Justice, rehabilitation, Gladue report writing (😭). Found here:

iPhone : Uncle Ben was the local Native Courtworker in Fort St. John for 38 years, serving as the longest Native Courtworker in BC. He retired in August, 2015, and continued to serve on the board of the BC Native Courtworkers for awhile too.

iPhone : Chester said that he asked my Uncle to help start a native courtworker service in Fort St. John (this is my recollection from ~17 yrs ago). The BC Native Courtworkers were started up around then too, and hence my Uncle Ben was able to serve his community as a Native Courtworker.

iPhone : Sometime after he finished at SFU, my Uncle Ben got a call from Chester Cunningham who started Native Courtworker Services of Alberta. When I was in Native Studies at UAlberta I heard Chester give a talk and asked him if he remembered Be . He said yes and we had a great chat.

iPhone : Law school was expensive back then too and I’m not even sure if band funding existed. Anyways, Nimoosum and Nohkum were able to help tho, & they sent my Uncle Ben to Simon Fraser University to take a 2 year Justice program.

iPhone : Uncle Ben & my mom, & multiple other siblings, attended various schools throughout. Uncle Ben was always interested in Justice & wanted to be a lawyer. But our fam didn’t have a lot of money even though Moosum was working a lot & was able to buy some land & slowly build a home.
