As U.S. Ambassador Eric Garcetti, Eric Garcetti is managing one of the most critical relationships to the US. But the role has also offered him a chance to reset his political narrative.

I asked Tuberville to respond to comments from two Black former players in their mid-40s that his rhetoric made them wonder if he'd changed—or they never really knew him.

'Well, a lot of these young guys don’t understand what goes on up here. ... I’m the same person.'

While there, he praised Argentina's violent, right-wing military junta. His uncle was a senior official in the junta.

My dad used to be a rock journalist. He had a few freelance pieces in @rollingstone. When I bragged about him growing up, I always made sure to mention that (along with his crazy David Crosby and Lou Reed stories).

It means a ton to me that we've now been pubbed in the same mag.

A veteran Capitol Hill reporter agreed when I mentioned it: 'Yeah, but with a mean streak.'

He also won his very first House race back in '82 with huge AIPAC support against a Republican who'd been critical of Israel (though he's been more critical of Israel in recent years).

NEWS with Heather Caygle and John Bresnahan --

HOUSE REPUBLICAN leadership is growing skeptical that it can pass the legislative branch spending bill and may pull it from consideration.

It was scheduled to get a vote tonight.

Here's what's quizzical about Speaker Mike Johnson's strategy on the Israel funding.

Had he not offset the $14B bill, he probably would've passed it with 350-400 votes and jammed the Senate. Johnson could've made law in his first week.

That would've pushed Senate Rs to try craft a…
